Internships 2012-2013
Join Profile Theatre’s new internship program!
Our internships are project-based. To apply, email a resume and cover letter to education@profiletheatre.org. Please indicate which internship(s) you are interested in. Your cover letter should tell us something about you, your interest in theater, and what you can bring to Profile as well as what you hope to get out of working with us.
Please be creative! We are looking for enthusiastic, imaginative and self-motivated people to join us this season.
Dramaturgy 1: Create a visual timeline of Athol Fugard’s life and work, the history of apartheid, and important events in South Africa’s history to be displayed in our lobby hallway. This project is very self-driven and is perfect for a historian, literature major, or dramaturge. This timeline will be on display for the entire season.
Project Dates: Fall, 2012. THIS POSITION IS FILLED.
Dramaturgy 2: Research and write articles about Athol Fugard for our program and website. These will be used to educate our audiences and critics about the life and work of our featured writer. Create a dramaturgy packet of research about Fugard, apartheid, and South Aftica for our visiting artists.
Project Dates: Fall, 2012. THIS POSITION IS FILLED.
Dramaturgy 3: Provide dramaturgical and research support and create educational support materials for our touring production of My Children! My Africa!.
Project Dates: occasional work Jan. – Mar., more hours Apr. – Jun. THIS POSITION IS FILLED.
Artistic 1: Work closely with Artistic Director Adriana Baer to plan the 2013-2014 season including choosing plays, working to contact the featured writer, and producing the Season Announcement Party on Dec. 3.
Project dates: Fall, 2012. THIS POSITION IS FILLED.
Artistic 2: Work closely with Artistic Director Adriana Baer to plan and produce the 2013 School Tour of My Children! My Africa!. This internship has one foot firmly in Education programming and is perfect for someone interested in producing, touring, and educational outreach.
Project dates: Jan. 14 – Jun. 14. THIS POSITION IS FILLED.
Management 1/Development and Fundraising: Work closely with Managing Director Matthew Jones on development and fundraising. This intern will work primarily on grants/individual donor prospect research, creating mid-term and final reports to granting organizations and proposal writing.
Project dates: now – Jun. 14.
Management 2/Audience Development: Work with Managing Director Matthew Jones and Administrative Director Cindy Lyndin on audience development and engagement. This intern will work on refining and developing our donor database and assist with creating best-practices for engaging with our audiences.
Project dates: Management 2A: now – Dec. 10 or
Management 2B: Jan. 14 – Jun. 14.
Design and Stage Management: We have design internships and assistantships available for all areas of production: stage management and design (scenic, lighting, props, costumes and sound) to work with our professional designers on each of our main stage productions.
