“It goes on and then it stops. You can’t worry about the stopping, you have to worry about the going on.”

While the Talley family has gathered to pay final tribute to a beloved family member, a visit by old friends upends the weekend, and family and tradition are pitted against corporate greed. Set in the post-Vietnam War era of 1977 in rural Missouri, a group of 1960’s burned-out radicals have reunited at the family homestead of Kenny Talley.   Considered by many to be Lanford Wilson’s greatest play, Fifth of July presents a patchwork American quilt of characters including a gay  Viet Nam War vet and amputee, his horticulturist partner, a single mom raising a teenage daughter, an industrial heiress and her conniving husband – all of whom share the bond of 1960’s cultural awakening.
